Volunteering at River Valley Church

There are many ways to get involved at River Valley Church and one of the ways is by volunteering.  Check out the list below for all volunteer positions River Valley has to offer. 

Alpha - Greeter 

Description:  Greet people as they come into Alpha and make them feel welcome.  Be a host to our guests, including helping them to find what they may need.
Serving:  Every Tuesday for 10 weeks arriving at 5:40 p.m. – greeting until 6:15pm
Minimum Requirements:  Must commit to being available for 10 weeks in a row.  Genuine friendliness and a desire to make people feel welcome is a plus.

Care Ministry

Description:  Our Care Ministry is a network of people who serve on teams who are on call to minister to people by bringing hot meals to their home or a “hospital cooler” to the hospital during an extended stay.  This is a wonderful way to care for people who’ve just had a baby, who are recovering from surgery, or have other similar circumstances.
Serving:  Flexible in that you’ll get a call only if there’s a need to see if you are able to take a night or two to bring a meal or deliver a hospital cooler.
Minimum Requirements:  Being on a team that is on call for one month every six months (2 months per year).

Custodial Help 

Description:  General cleaning, particularly before and/or after special events.  Setup and/or teardown for events.  Special cleaning projects.
Serving:  Project based, as needed.
Minimum Requirements:  2 hours per month, flexible.

Café 

Description:  (Role 1) Work in the café, being friendly and taking and filling orders for food and drinks.  (Role 2) Pick up, set out, and clean up cookies for Saturday night service and/or bagels for Sunday morning services.
Serving:  On a regular schedule.  Shifts are around church service times.
Minimum Requirements:  2 hours once per month.

Graphic Design

Description:  Design advertising and marketing materials for River Valley Church and other ministry areas.
Serving:  Project-by-project basis.  One project per quarter.
Minimum Requirements:  Proven experience as a graphic designer.

Greeters 

Description:  Greet people as they come into church and make them feel welcome.  Be a host to our guests, including helping them to find what they may need.
Serving:  On a regular schedule, arriving 20 minutes prior to services for which you’re greeting.
Minimum Requirements:  Greeting for one service per month.

Information Technology 

Description:  Implementation, support, maintenance, and project work related to our network and computer hardware and software solutions.
Serving:  Support and/or project work based on need and/or a schedule.
Minimum Requirements:  Solid technical skills in an area of IT, from computers to software to network.

Kids Ministry – Early Childhood  Infants to Pre-K 

• Lead Teacher - On the GO 3's - Serving every other Saturday night.

• Volunteer Assistants - Infants to PreK - Serving either weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.
Reports to Children’s Ministry Service Directors.

Kids Ministry - Volunteer Teacher Assistant
Description:  Assisting the teacher and caring for the children during a 1-hour class.
Serving:  On a scheduled rotation, typically once per month.
Minimum Requirements:  1.5 hours per month.  (Greater frequency is an option if desired.)
Reports to Children’s Ministry Service Directors.

Kids –KidZone Church  Kindergarten to 5th Grade

Kidzone Leader
Description:  Helping in the KidZone service.
Serving:  Serving is on a scheduled rotation, typically once per month.
Minimum Requirements:  1.5 hours per month. (Greater frequency is an option if desired.)
Reports to Children’s Ministry Service Directors.

Kitchen 

Description:  Helping with or coordinating various arrangements for food and beverages for church functions.
Serving:  Project based, as needed.
Minimum Requirements:  2 hours per month.

Maintenance 

Description:  General maintenance and improvements to our facility, and occasional fix-up projects.
Serving:  Project based, as needed.
Minimum Requirements:  2 hours per month, flexible.

Men’s Ministry 

Description:  Help in the coordination of activities for men.
Serving:  Project based.
Minimum Requirements:  2 hours per month and attending events.

Missions Volunteer

Description:  Trip Support, Trip Participant, Trip Leader
Serving: Helping others prepare for a missions trip or possibly even leading a team
Minimum Requirements:  A passion for missions

Music - Worship Team
Description:  Experienced musicians and singers offering their musical talents in worship.
Serving:  On a scheduled rotation.
Minimum Requirements:  Serve in all four weekend services (Saturday 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. and Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) typically once a month.  Auditions are conducted for worship team positions.

Office Help - General Office Help
Description:  Office work such as cutting, folding, stuffing bulletins, filing, answering phones, data entry, etc.
Serving:  On occasion or scheduled basis.
Minimum Requirements:  2 hours once per month during office hours.

Small Groups 

Description:  Become a leader, assistant leader, or host for a small group.
Serving:  On a scheduled basis (groups and meetings).
Minimum Requirements:  Attend a Small Group Leadership Orientation.  Small groups meet at least twice monthly and may require preparation, and monthly leaders meetings are at 6:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month (excluding December).

Technical Ministries 

Description:  Running video, sound, or lighting for church services.
Serving:  On a scheduled rotation.
Minimum Requirements:  Serve in all weekend services one time per month.

Ushers 

Description:  Hand out bulletins as people enter the auditorium, help people find seats, collect the offering, serve Communion, open doors for people, and answer general questions.
Serving:  On a schedule.
Minimum Requirements:  Ushering for at least one service per month.

Welcome Center  

Description:  Staff the Welcome Center in the church lobby before and after weekend and special services primarily to help new people get connected.
Serving:  On a scheduled rotation.
Minimum Requirements:  1 meeting per month, 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after a church service.

Women’s Ministry 

Description:  Help in the coordination of activities for women.
Serving:  Project based.
Minimum Requirements:  2 hours per month and attending events.

Youth 

Description:  Serving in a variety of areas within our youth ministry, including but not limited to Wednesday nights.

Serving:  We need help in various areas of this ministry including:
-Before, during and/or after oneNight on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:15 p.m. at River Valley
-Special event assistance; chaperones
-Help with student small groups on Sunday evenings from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at River Valley

Minimum Requirements:  Dependent upon type of service.
